Dog world champion trusts in rubber screed from Gröne

World champion Klaus Gedicke's German shepherds feel right at home thanks to Liquid Rubber special flooring from Dinklage.

The reason for Klaus Gedicke's passion for German shepherds was called Bingo. The dog breeder from Rheine got his first German shepherd at the age of 10, from which time on his interest in the animals never waned. "Even as a teenager, I was deeply committed to training the animals, and I bred my first litter of German shepherds with a sports friend back in 1996", he says. His passion took him to the very top: a few years ago, Gedicke won the World Dog Championships with the German team. For years, he has been trusting in Gröne's G2000 rubber screed in his kennels. "The flooring in dog kennels usually consists of paving stones or ordinary screed", says Gedicke. "But the hard, cold surface is very unpleasant for dogs." Wood can be ruled out as an alternative as well, because it can easily become infested with pests. While searching for a solution, the dog owner finally came across our elastic and insulating rubber screed: easily applied onto the existing floor, it is cured and fully load-bearing within 72 hours. "After we had installed the high-quality special flooring for the first time a few years ago, the difference it made for our German shepherds quickly became apparent. They no longer feel the cold so easily, no longer develop chafe marks and simply feel great. It's also very easy to clean the floor!" The easy to maintain and hygienic Liquid Rubber has now been installed over an area of approx. 40 square metres in Gedicke's dog kennels. "German shepherds are simply wonderful animals by nature", he says. "It was particularly important to me that they also enjoy optimum conditions in the kennels." The elastic and joint-friendly special flooring made of natural latex contributes to this. Ultimately, that is also reflected in the success of Gedicke's German shepherds.

Klaus Gedicke regularly takes part successfully in regional and national championships with his dogs. In 2009, he actually made it to the top of the world rankings. As one of six participating dogs, his German shepherd Quino vom Salztalblick asserted himself in a demanding intra-association selection process and travelled with the German team to the World Championship of the worldwide dog association Fédération Cynologique Internationale (FCI) in Austria. There, the Germans proved successful in all three disciplines: in tracking, in which tracks are laid and objects have to be retrieved, in obedience, or following commands, and in protection, in which police dog work such as apprehending a criminal is required. "Holding the title in my hands back then was almost certainly the most wonderful experience during my time as a dog owner!", recalls Gedicke. He is currently training a six-month-old male dog, which of course lives on rubber flooring from Gröne and might perhaps one day follow in the paw prints of Quino vom Salztalblick.
